Wedding vs Marriage

A close girlfriend of mine is getting married. She is really stressed out by the preparations. Which brought to mind about my other girlfriends who went through the same thing as she did. I was there with them, helping out in any way I could.

So much emphasis and preparation for the wedding day itself. It took months of planning, booking of appointments, arrangements...and it was only for that one day.

Maybe i'm a cynic...I don't know...

It just don't make sense to me that through months of preparations for that one day inorder to acheieve a perfect wedding day...yet during the process, couples disagreed and got stressed out. Isn't it ironic? The imperfection of trying to be perfect.

What about the marriage itself? Is there any way to prepare for that? No, I don't think so. Marriage is forever...well...at least for most of us. When we said the vow, did we really understood and took it seriously or were we just going through the motion?

A simple word - Marriage - that entails so many facet of life. It's about growing together, standing by each other, loyalty, friendship, love, hate, acceptance, faith, habits, teamwork, partnership, arguements, compromising etc...
The list is endless because it involves the rest of our lives. In light of this perspective, shouldn't more emphasis be put in the Marriage itself rather than the Wedding?

Such a long road to walk and wouldn't it be great if you have someone to walk along side with you?
